Stumbling over my feet on the track in haste, zooming past olives in their floaty spring costumes, not even noticing how be-flowered and smiling they are. This is me in May until I start to slow down.
Have you noticed the speed this spring?
And speaking of things that need warmth and movement, it’s easy, perhaps, to forget that sometimes you just have the opposite to give.
The only thing there is to know about Ayurveda is that like attracts like and opposites balance, and this is what I remember as I ease my weary body into a chair in the sun.
In these days of fast growth, you might be drawn into the speed of things. You must flow with the season; it will take you with it anyhow. But remember too that even while you’re resembling the time of year you’re living through, you need to reverse it for balance.
Harmonise the sudden heat with things that cool. Balance bouts of rain with tea and toast. This week, then, I’m looking for the things that stick out, rough edges on a smooth season, and I’m giving them their opposite: a cool drink on a hot day, a warm layer on a rainy day. This is spring. It’s neither here nor there, and all we have to do is keep up.
